The History of Hotel Caimanera

This modern installation of tourism is located in the northen hill of Caimanera town. In the 90s of the 19th century the hill lodged a heliographic tower of the communication service of the Spanish Colonialist Army. Communication among the different fortresses in the bay, the military authorities and the intermediated points was maintain by means of the sounds of Mouse Code.

About 1950, a tank of water reserve for the new aqueduct of Caimanera was built in this place.

The hill was surrounded by a street in which there were several edifications that followed the same design of construction. The were made of wood, supported by pillars of average altitude, floors made of wood too and red roof – tile. The corridors were over – turned, like bungalows, they had white walls and blue doors and windows. These edifications were reached by a wood stair – case situated in the northen part of the hill.

After the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, there were constructed new edifications with the intention to improve Caimanera’s    inhabitants way of life. In the lates 80s, the Caimanera Hotel was built. It formly opened on 17th July      1992  and has been managed by the Islazul Touristical Agency    since then.
